Romania's Hopes Lie With E.U.

As much of western Europe's enthusiasm for the European Union wanes, Romania sees its entry into the E.U. as a final break from the Soviet era. In order to gain official membership on Jan. 1, 2007, Romania must prove they have adapted to strict E.U. standards on everything from justice system reform to the slaughter of pigs.
