A pair of bald eagles nicknamed George and Martha have been nesting on the Maryland side of the Potomac river near the Wilson bridge.

In early April, Martha was attacked by another eagle, probably a female that wanted to take over her territory. She was severely injured, and might have died if employees of the Wilson bridge construction project had not taken her to a veterinary hospital in Delaware.

And in early May, veterinarian Erica Miller released Martha in a field near Middletown, Del. The veterinarian thinks that Martha can find her way back to her nest in Maryland if she wants to.
