D.C. Mayor-elect Adrian M. Fenty is pushing to take control of the city's troubled public schools. But 2 1/2 years ago, when Mayor Anthony A. Williams proposed his own takeover, Fenty, the Ward 4 D.C. Council member, was one of the most outspoken critics of the idea. This March 29, 2004, public hearing in the council chambers at the John A. Wilson Building is a prime example of Fenty's thinking at the time.
