The last remaining Jews in Yemen are vanishing, driven out by politics, war and hatred. Once numbering 60,000, one of the oldest Jewish populations in the Arab world now has fewer than 350 members. In the capital, 65 Jews who fled their northern villages live in a government compound under heavy security.

Six years after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, a panel probing Britain's role in the war begins public hearings, with the chairman declaring that he would "get to the heart" of what happened.


President Obama's address, set for next week, will begin the White House effort to sell his revised Afghanistan war plan to skeptics in his party and reluctant allies abroad.
