What's Your Opinion?
Message Boards Should more be done to enforce gun control measures? Are gun supporters given enough say in the debate? Join a discussion of gun control issues.
The gun control debate reached new heights after the April 1999 shootings at Columbine High School. Supporters argue that school and workplace shootings call for measures including background checks and longer waiting periods for permits. Pro gun groups argue that enforcement of existing laws, rather than creating restrictive new ones, is needed. While federal legislation has foundered, state and local governments have sued manufacturers over the costs of gun-related violence.

Ruling Saves Part of D.C. Gun Liability Law
