| | | Mark Gail joined The Post after stints at several papers including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Milwaukee Journal. He covers everything for the daily Post and the Extra section from the Prince George's County bureau. "Being on a daily newspaper photo staff is like being on a baseball team," says Gail. "You have to deliver every day. And you can't back away from a shoot because you think it won't get you a home run on page 1. With every assignment you need an open mind. You never know what's going to produce a great picture until you get there or [until] you get back and process the film." What Gail enjoys most about his job is getting out to meet people, though he finds it hard breezing in and out of the lives of people experiencing difficult times. "Sometimes I wish we could go back six months later. . . and see how that family is doing."
