Trials Test Jones, Olympic Hopefuls
Marion Jones crosses the finish line ahead of Angela Williams, left, and Carmelita Jeter, right, in their 100-meter quarterfinal heat at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in track and field on July 9. Jones placed second in her heat with a time of 11.38 seconds to advance to the next round, but she finished fifth in the final and failed to qualify. She won the gold medal in the 100 meters at the 2000 Olympics.
