Now that Phil Mickelson has won a major and we never have to ask again, "Phil, when are you going to win a major?" we can aim the searing light of interrogation on somebody else. You know who that somebody is, don't you?
When Phil Mickelson finally broke through Sunday in the 68th Masters, he did it with such style and authority -- with a 31 on the final nine holes to come from behind to beat Ernie Els by one shot -- that, for one day, all the rest was forgotten.
There was something right and complete about Phil Mickelson's victory in the Masters. Mickelson didn't win because it was Easter Sunday, or because a flock of eagles flew overhead, he finally won his first major championship because he thoroughly deserved it.
