The Homeowner

Trainor wants to remodel his 6-by-3-foot powder room. "It's the smallest room in my townhouse and [I] want to change everything," he writes in an e-mail. "Everything can go," he writes, "even the light fixture."

Designer's Critique

Consider a low vanity and large tiles to make the ceiling appear taller and the space feel larger. Because the powder room is small, splurge on iridescent tiles and a shimmering coating on the ceiling, which will reflect light and infuse the space with a warm glow.
