Aellen, her husband and their three kids want to spend more time using their recently renovated, eight-year-old, two-level deck. "We love the view off of our deck and would like to spend more time out there," Aellen says, "but right now it feels boring and unwelcoming." The larger area of the deck measures 19 by 20 feet, and the smaller area is 12 by 18. Aellen would like to hold large parties there. She also wants spots for storing toys and caring for potted plants. She'd prefer not to paint the deck and to keep her existing patio set.
