Home & Garden: House Calls Home & Garden

The Problem

Lisa White bought a beach condo three years ago. She rented it out for a while, but now that her family and fiance, Brian Gordon, are renovating the former motel suite, she'd like to make more use of the place herself. White has big plans for her "very tiny," 61/2-by-6-foot bathroom. She'd like to remove the tub and linen closet to add a stall shower and a stacked washer and dryer. White wants the room to be fun and modern, incorporating blue glass tiles, white wainscoting and nickel or stainless fixtures while making the room look larger than it is.

The Solution

» To make the space seem bigger, tile the shower in white and add a large mirror.
