"Shopping for teens," Mandy Lippman says, "is either very expensive, way too boring or not the right mix of design plus function." She is struggling to decorate a room for her 16-year-old daughter, Lauren Hoffman. The room used to be two smaller rooms before a shared wall was knocked down. Now half of the room measures 14 by 9 feet, and the other half is 11 1/2 by 12 3/4. Lauren needs a dressing area, headboard and space to display her jewelry collection and other items. She'd like to keep her acrylic Philippe Starck Louis Ghost chair and the night tables passed down from her grandparents, and she wants a fun, bohemian look.
