Home & Garden: House Calls Home & Garden

The Problem

Homeowner Michele Matton feels her home's laundry room is too small. The 5-foot-6-by-5-foot-10 space has two doors that swing into it (from the garage and the kitchen), making the room feel extra tight. She's looking for a complete overhaul, including: more counter space, front-loading appliances and storage for mops and her children's backpacks. To make this area more functional and inviting, Matton is willing to replace everything.

The Solution

» Take advantage of the room's ceiling height.
