After 23 years in military housing, the Brydons have bought their second home, which has a formal dining room. The couple and their teenage daughter never had such extra space before, so "we are starting from ground zero," Lisa Brydon says. She'd like wood floors in the 13 1/4-by-11 3/4-foot room and an expandable table. She'd like a kid-friendly space but doesn't think the brass chandelier and draperies left by the former owners reflect that casual style.
