Home & Garden: House Calls Home & Garden

The Problem

McMorris-Armstrong and her family have lived in their house for almost two years and are trying to make it feel like home. But "we are at a loss on trying to paint (we don't know where we should start and stop the paint color due to the odd shape of the room)," she writes in an e-mail. The 17-by-17-foot room includes tall windows, too many blank walls and an open floor plan. McMorris-Armstrong wants a casual, contemporary space where the family can relax.

The Solution

» Create a seating arrangement as a focal point.
