Smith and her husband are having problems with a 14-by-9-foot room in their new townhouse. The space has multiple doorways and a 12-foot-high ceiling, and can be seen from their front door. They want to watch TV and do crossword puzzles there. "We are aiming for a complete overhaul," Smith writes in an e-mail, "for we are going green."
