These figures encompass the entire Washington, D.C., Primary Metropolitan Statistical Area (PMSA). Total labor force and complete employment numbers can be found below. The civilian labor force includes all those employed or seeking employment. The unemployment figures enumerate those seeking work but unable to find it; it does not include discouraged workers, who are workers who cannot find jobs and have stopped seeking them. These figures are not seasonally adjusted and are updated about 30 days after the end of a given month. Growth in employment in the metropolitan area since January 1994 can be tracked on a separate chart.
