The hospitals have 1,484 beds. Inova is affiliated with Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge. Developments: Jolene Tornabeni, executive vice president and chief operating officer, announced she will retire from Inova in June 2004. Tornabeni, a registered nurse, joined Inova in 1994 as vice president of the system and administrator of Inova Fairfax. Inova continues to expand and renovate. Inova Mount Vernon completed renovations on its rehabilitation center in December. The new 156-bed Inova Heart Institute is scheduled to open in September on Inova's Fairfax campus. Inova Fair Oaks completed a five-story, 145,000-square-foot addition, doubling its size. The federal government's Health Resources and Services Administration awarded Inova a $680,000 four-year grant to study ways to improve nurse retention.
