Customers include ice cream makers Ben & Jerry's Homemade, hotel chain Marriott International and casino company Caesars Entertainment. Developments: Like the travel and tourism industries it serves, Micros Systems was devastated in 2002 by the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. But the company recovered during 2003, posting higher sales and profits as the economy improved. The company has said the outlook for hotels in particular looks like it will improve this year. In May the company acquired Datavantage Corp., a Cleveland software company, to penetrate the technology market for retail chains. Datavantage, whose customers include Bed Bath & Beyond and Ikea, designs programs that track customer orders and inventory and reduce theft. The company has told analysts it plans to use its $61 million in cash to fund more acquisitions.
