Description: Strayer, a for-profit education company, focuses on helping adults continue studies beyond high school. It provides a variety of academic programs through Strayer University, including undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration, accounting, information technology, education and public administration. Strayer University educates more than 23,500 students at 32 campuses.

Developments: The company opened five campuses in 2004, including its first two in Atlanta and one in South Carolina. Strayer University's Washington campus, which has been in the city for 100 years, relocated to a remodeled building two blocks from its original site. This year, Strayer expanded into Florida, where it operates two campuses in the Tampa area. The company also plans to open three campuses this year. In the spring, the company saw a management shuffle. Two new positions were filled by internal candidates. James McCoy, previously a regional director at Strayer, was appointed vice president of campus operations. Pamela Bell, previously director of Strayer University Online, was appointed vice president of online operations. Scott W. Steffey, executive vice president and chief operating officer, resigned. Steffey continued to serve as chairman of Strayer University's board of trustees.
