Senate
1.
Internet Content Filters: By a unanimous vote, the Senate amended a juvenile justice bill to require Internet service providers with at least 50,000 subscribers to provide software and technology for filtering out objectionable online content. A "yes" vote backed the amendment
Vote: Passed, 100-0, on May 13, 1999
2.
Internet Gun Sales: The Senate tabled a bid to ban unlicensed dealers from selling guns over the Internet. A "yes" vote opposed the amendment to a juvenile justice bill on grounds it silenced commercial speech.
Vote: Tabled, 50-43, on May 14, 1999
3.
Y2K Lawsuits: The Senate rejected an amendment bolstering consumer rights in a bill limiting companies' liability in suits arising from the Year 2000 computer problem. A "yes" vote was to keep the bill from preempting state consumer-protection laws.
Vote: Rejected, 32-65, on June 9, 1999
4.
Year 2000: The Senate approved the conference report on a bill limiting companies' liability in suits based on the Year 2000 computer glitch. A "yes" vote was to pass the bill over protests that it deprived consumers and small businesses of legal rights.
Vote: Passed, 81-18, on July 1, 1999
5.
Internet Campaign Disclosure: The Senate required that contributions to federal candidates be disclosed on the Internet within 24 hours of their receipt on the local, state or federal level. A "yes" vote was to add the requirement to a campaign finance bill
Vote: Passed, 77-20, on Oct. 14, 1999
6.
Local TV Signals: The Senate approved $1.25 billion in loan guarantees to enable satellite companies to deliver local television signals to smaller markets. The measure is intended to benefit the 3 million satellite subscribers who are now unable to receive local TV stations. A "yes" vote was to pass the bill.
Vote: Passed, 18-11, on May 17, 2000
