Should the Government Cut Back on Paid Parental Leave?

Last night, the House passed legislation that would allow federal employees four weeks of paid leave upon the birth or adoption of a child. Many, but not all, Republicans objected to the bill, saying Uncle Sam should not give federal workers expanded benefits during a time of recession. Supporters pointed out that almost every country in the world and 75 percent of the Fortune 100 companies have some form of paid parental leave.
