Do Letterman's Affairs Change How You Feel About Him?

On Thursday night, longtime late night talk show star David Letterman admitted to having sex with female members of his staff, an admission that came after his grand jury testimony in an extortion case earlier Thursday. Though not married until 2009, Letterman dated now-wife Regina Lasko for years, and the couple had a son together in 2003.

The news of Letterman's infidelities was met with a large amount of shock among the general public. While you might not have seen it coming, does Letterman's admission of infidelities change your opinion of him?

Who knows where this is going to lead? Perhaps to CBS Pages.
CBS should fire him for seducing his employees.
He put GE at enormous legal risk with his perceived insecurities and abuse of power.

I used to think David Letterman was a saint, a boyscout, and a celibate priest. Now THIS! Oh boy, have MY views about him changed. Imagine my disappointment in finding out he's an ordinary guy, who actually spent his single years having sex instead of being fixated on others having sex.

He always struck me as somewhat slimey but it seems he finally had an ethical moment where he did the right thing after years of doing the easy, the pleasurable, or the wrong thing.

So while having sex with all those young employees of his company was ugly and creepy - being unwilling to be blackmailed showed some integrity.

Never has it been stated that Letterman has sex while he was married. As far as we know it was relationships between consenting adults.

I respect the fact that this is twice now that he stood up to people trying to take advantage of him. $2 mil would have been a drop in the bucket to Letterman but instead of taking the easy way out, Dave took the moral high road.

Way to go Dave!

Now, sexual harassment victims can recover compensatory damages beyond back pay, and may do so in a jury trial. Moreover, these damages can encompass "future pecuniary losses, emotional pain, suffering, inconvenience, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, and other nonpecuniary losses." Plaintiffs can also collect punitive damages, if they can demonstrate that an employer acted with malice or with reckless or callous indifference.

I've always thought Letterman was genuinely funny, unlike Leno who rarely makes me laugh. Sadly, though, I can't see how he can continue doing his job after admitting to sexual harrassment and worse. He needs to walk away and seek counseling for his obvious problems.

I do not agree that he should resign. If there was no sexual harassment, then these were acts between consenting adults and have nothing to do with his job. Besides, I'd be stuck watching Conan. Ugh.

Lots of people meet spouses/partners/lovers while on the job, one of the few places people get to know each other after school days. Should all of them resign?

So far there have been no allegations of sexual harassment, so my opinion is leave the man alone and let the justice system work this out.

Letterman's show is a great it has always been. His affairs are his business. If he was someone who made laws for all adults, especially the removal of rights, then this story would be relevant. Letterman does not pose as one of the phony Christian-supremacist, family-values, 'morals' preaching, censorship advocating foe of adult freedoms, who ends up in affairs and brothels. Rev. After careful thought I have decided that
1. We need a public option for health care.
2. The US needs to get out of Afghanistan (I was in RVN, drafted, and this war smells the same).
3. Letterman is more interesting than Leno or that other guy, and that is surely more important than points 1 and 2.

I don´t understand this sentiment to attack as dishonorable a married man who has dalliances. Men are confused by the culture which surrounds them in scantily clad women wearing high heels and tight jeans but then tells them it is wrong to have extramarital affairs. For David Letterman it was just easier to seduce females because women are attracted to his fame and money. I am sure some of his male critics would have done the same if they had his celebrity. As for his wife she should just realize that for men sex is just a sport and means nothing--she is the woman he loves. Were that to become the accepted norm there would be less divorces in America and less misery arising from that.

I am not a Letterman fan. Have never watched his program. He must be fairly wealthy by now so don't know how this could really hurt him. Is there a morals clause in his contract? He is not a politician or leader of a church. If someone tried to blackmail me I think I would do just what he did. His fans can make their own decisions with their remote buttons.

Well, At least he was having sex with the Female employees.
With All that is going on in this world, the Sexual "experiences" that have now surfaced regarding David Letterman are the least of My concerns. Seems that it is a growing trend for these slimes to be discovered and brought into the light.
That is why I, a college educated, intelligent and sucessful Female chose to stay just that, Single.
Been there done that with a Husband.

Oh no, I saw it coming. In fact I saw it coming three years ago. This guy David Letterman or at least his security paraphernalia were extremely busy waiving people off from the TV console.

The only thing that bothers me is that even in his declaration David Letterman has shown no remorse. And it is a telling sign of the changing times when a man declares his infidelity and instantly becomes No. 1 TV celebrity.

Now let us come to unbelievable part of this story - The blackmailer was so dumb as to accept check for payment. In giving such explanation, did David Letterman just demonstrated that Americans are nincompoops with no brains?

David Letterman was smart enough to be on top of celebrity list for so many years and I believe he is smart enough now because he has ably demonstrated that Americans are so glib that they have gobbled his rubbish, hook line and sinker.

It doesn't change anything. All we know is that he had some affairs with women at work and that someone tried to blackmail him. The rest is none of anyone's business unless the affairs were nonconsensual or harassing.

Since when are employees considered "consenting adults"?

Sounds like sexual harassment, or prostitution. I guess sleeping with the boss to get ahead continues to be a necessary step in some women's careers.
