Gov. Palin more than held her own in her debate with Senator Joe Biden. Again and again, she took shots at Obama without being disagreeable. She showed at least as strong a command of the facts as Senator Biden (more on that in a bit).
Amazingly, Biden had no response when Palin pointed out that he had once said that Obama was not ready to be commander-in-chief.
There were times when she was a bit more platitudinous than I would have liked, but overall she not only beat expectations. She beat Biden.
P.S. Biden said that Obama had never said he would meet with Ahmadinejad, that McCain voted the same way as Obama on a budget resolution that included tax increases, that his comments about clean coal had been taken out of context. Biden is wrong on each point. I hope the Washington Post's fact-checkers, when they have had a bit more time to look into it, write about these misstatements--all of which seem more blatant than several of the ones on both sides that they have already covered.
