"Taxes and education are high priorities in the 37th District, but the single most urgent problem facing this district is traffic. After leading the fight against last year's sales tax increase, I have turned my energies to working on solutions to alleviate traffic congestion without raising taxes. The most comprehensive solution I have been advocating is called 'HOT lanes,' which would allow us to add road capacity to our major roadways while keeping 100 percent of the funding in Northern Virginia. HOT lanes are the fastest and most cost-effective way to improve our transportation system throughout Northern Virginia."
