Why should voters elect you?"On the school board and as a delegate, I've worked hard for Mount Vernon, working across party lines for responsible solutions in education and transportation."
What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?"Virginia must find ways to fund important priorities like transportation, education and public safety. Budget cuts--$6 billion so far--can take us just so far. Now we must decide as a commonwealth about the investments we need to make in our future. This year's tax restructuring offers us an opportunity to make those choices. Clearly, we must look for ways to reduce the local reliance on the property tax. Giving counties and cities equal taxing authority must be a centerpiece of any overall tax restructuring plan."
