"Police, fire and sheriff's employee groups have all endorsed my candidacy, based on my vision for the future and effectiveness over the past four years."
"Protecting the citizens of Fairfax County is my highest priority. Since Sept. 11, 2001, the sheriff's office has expanded its law enforcement role and has been proactive in homeland security and counterterrorism. Deputies are trained to recognize and respond to critical incidents and cooperatively work with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in making Fairfax County a safer place to live.
Maintaining strict fiscal responsibility, while meeting these new critical needs and continuing to perform the core functions of the sheriff's office, is the issue in this race. My record reflects my ability to meet this challenge."
