"The most urgent problem facing the Broad Run District is skyrocketing taxes as a result of irresponsible spending. The average homeowner paid $1,899 in real estate taxes when the current board took office. Today, that same homeowner pays over $3,100. Taxes are up 69 percent. County operating spending is up 85 percent. County debt is up nearly 160 percent. We need true fiscal responsibility by setting priorities, such as education, transportation and public safety and eliminating pet pork projects. We need leaders who will be better stewards of the people's money."
