"I have experience in public service, and my record is one of fighting unnecessary spending while taking a common-sense approach to government."
"The most urgent problem is taxes and spending by the Board of Supervisors. This board began with a $30 million surplus. Since that time, our average property taxes have increased by over 69 percent. Government spending has grown by almost 90 percent. County debt has increased by 160 percent. Population growth is only 35 percent. At the same time, they have allowed our commercial tax base to erode by 25 percent, and our office vacancy rate is the highest in the metropolitan area. This decline in our commercial tax base has unfairly shifted the tax burden to the homeowners."
