Building and maintaining the infrastructure needed to support a large population increase is one of the greatest challenges facing local and state officials in fast-growing areas. In the Northern Neck, economic development and protecting the environment are both pressing issues. Balancing environmental concerns with the need to create employment opportunities and revitalize the seafood industry is important to the future of this region."
