Biography:

Monty Warner was born and grew up in Monongalia County, where he attended public schools.

He graduated from West Point in 1978 and began a 25-year career in the U.S. Army. He worked in the Pentagon as an artillery budget analyst and ended his Army career as a colonel and inspector general of the West Virginia National Guard.

Warner received a masters of science degree in operations research at Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., in 1989. He also graduated from Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., in 1990 and the Army War College in Carlisle College, Pa., in 1999.

When he retired from the Army in June 2003, he began working in his family's development business, helping develop Square at Fallen Run and other projects in the Morgantown area.

Warner, 47, is married and has three children.
