Biography:

Born in rural north Louisiana in 1946, Rodney Alexander, of Quitman, went to Louisiana public schools and attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston.

He has worked in the insurance and construction businesses. He served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1988 until his election to Congress as a Democrat in 2002.

Alexander switched his party affiliation to Republican on August 6, 2004.

Alexander is married with three children and four grandchildren.
