Felix Alvarado was born in Orange Grove, Texas, and lives in Fort Worth.

He earned his GED while serving in the Army. He earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland in 1986 and a master's degree at Troy State University in Michigan in 1987.

He taught for nine years at an inner-city school in Fort Worth and now is an assistant principal.
