Biography:
Goli Ameri was born in Tehran, Iran, and currently resides in Tigard, Ore.
She left Iran for the United States as a college freshman in 1974, became a U.S. citizen and has lived in this country ever since.Her parents were living in France during the 1979 Iranian revolution that toppled the Shah. The Islamic fundamentalists who took power confiscated her parents' property and threw one of her uncles in jail.
Ameri, who touts herself as an American success story, received her master's and bachelor's degrees from Stanford University.Ameri owns a small high-tech consulting business. She and her husband Jim have two children.
Past Campaigns:
Goli Ameri has been involved in Oregon Republican Party politics for years and has served on the finance committee of U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore. This is her first bid for elective office.
