Biography:
Kara Anastasio was born in 1967 in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in nearby Yellow Springs, where she now lives. She graduated from Yellow Springs High School in 1984. She received her bachelor's degree in philosophy from Boston University in 1988.
After graduating from college, Anastasio lived in Venezuela, Australia and New York City before returning to Yellow Springs in 1995. In 2001, she was elected vice chairwoman of the Natural Law Party of Ohio. She is a part-time office administrator for a Dayton attorney.
Anastasio is divorced and has one child.
Past Campaigns:
Kara Anastasio ran as the Democratic nominee for the 7th District in 2002 but lost to incumbent Republican Rep. David Hobson, 68 percent to 27 percent. She had no opposition in Ohio's March 2, 2004, primary election.
