Biography:

Bob Beauprez graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1970 with a bachelor of science in education. That same year, he decided to marry his high school sweetheart, Claudia, and return home to Lafayette, Colo., and join the family business, dairy farming. Beauprez became a recognized breeder, judge and industry spokesman for the Holstein dairy cattle industry.

In 1990, when his brother and father retired from the dairy business and sold the herd, Beauprez bought a small community bank. The bank had one location in 1990.

A decade later, Heritage Bank has dozens of locations throughout Denver's northern suburbs.

Beauprez was first elected to the House in 2002, winning by only 121 votes in the last congressional race in the country to be decided that year.

Past Campaigns:

Bob Beauprez defeated former Democratic state Sen. Mike Feeley in 2002. The election was so close it forced a recount. Beauprez eventually came out on top, winning by only 121 votes.

In 2004, Beauprez faced no opponents in the primary, and he faced Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas in the general election.
