Biography:

Judy Biggert was born in Chicago and lives in west suburban Hinsdale. She received a degree in international relations from Stanford University in 1959 and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1963. She was a law clerk to 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Luther M. Swygert from 1963 to 1964.

In 1969, she served as president of the Chicago Junior Board of the Traveler's Aid Society and from 1974 to 1975, she was Oak School PTA president.

She began her private practice in real estate law in 1975. Biggert was president of the Junior League of Chicago from 1976 to 1978, and served on the Hinsdale High School District 86 Board from 1978 to 1985. Biggert was president of the school board from 1983 to 1985.

Biggert served in the Illinois House from 1992 to 1998. She served as assistant Republican leader of the House, 1995-98. She was elected to the U.S. House in 1998 and re-elected in 2000 and 2002.

Biggert and her husband, Rody, have four children.


Past Campaigns:

Judy Biggert was elected to the U.S. House in 1998, defeating Democrat Susan Hynes with 61 percent of the vote to win the seat opened up by the retirement of U.S. Rep. Harris Fawell.

In 2000, Biggert was re-elected with 66 percent of the vote. She defeated Thomas Mason.

She was re-elected in 2002 with 70 percent of the vote. She defeated Thomas Mason.

She served in the Illinois House from 1992 to 1998.

Her only other campaigns for public office were for the Hinsdale High School District 86 Board, which she served on from 1978 to 1985.

She was elected president of the board, serving from 1983 to 1985.
