Biography:

Nancy Boyda is a St. Louis native who has lived in Kansas for 25 years. She holds a chemistry degree from William Jewell College in Kansas City, Mo., and worked as a manager of research and development for several pharmaceutical companies for more than two decades. She also is a former analytical chemist for the Environmental Protection Agency.

She taught seventh-grade chemistry before deciding last year to seek the 2nd Congressional District seat held by Republican Jim Ryun.

She and her husband, Steve, an attorney, have seven children from previous marriages.
