Biography:

Steve Cameron was born in Huntsville, Ala., and spent the early part of his childhood there before moving to Selma, Ala.

His father was a World War II veteran and a NASA engineer in Huntsville, while his mother taught kindergarten.

Shortly after graduating from high school, he pursued a career in law enforcement that was cut short after a dispute over a DUI arrest he made as a Perry County deputy.

He then enrolled at Troy State University in Montgomery, Ala., where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. After failing to find another job in law enforcement, he worked as a field service inspector for hotels in Selma and Huntsville for about five years.

He currently works as a self-employed mobile home appraiser.

He is single.


Past Campaigns:

In 2002, Steve Cameron lost the Republican primary for District 67 in the Alabama House of Representatives to Mark Story of Selma. Story lost the general election to Democrat Yusuf Salaam of Selma.
