Biography:
Gabe Castillo was born May 7, 1957, in South Central Los Angeles, where he spent the first eight years of his life. He was the first person in his family to attend college, earning a degree in engineering and business from California State University, San Jose.
He worked as a manager for IBM, spending time overseas and on the company's military accounts, before deciding to attend law school, which he left one year short of a degree. For the past 15 years, he's been operating a mortgage, insurance and investment securities business. He's married and has three teenage children.

Gabe Castillo was unopposed in the March 2004 primary election, his first bid for public office. He faces Republican Dan Lungren, a former state attorney general and congressman, in the November 2004 general election.
