Biography:

Calder Clay is a seventh-generation Georgia resident. Like his grandfather, Calder Clay Sr., before him, Clay has received most of hispolitical exposure on the Macon City Council and Bibb County Commission.

In 1995, he became the first Republican to be elected to the council in a city-wide race.

Clay served as finance chairman for former Republican Rep. Saxby Chambliss, now a U.S. senator.

Clay is the founder of Clay Land Trust, which acquires and markets timber tracts, farms and hunting properties. He also served 15 years in the medical services field.

He and his wife, Kathy, have three children.


Past Campaigns:

Calder Clay narrowly lost to Democrat Jim Marshall in his first congressional race in 2002. Clay ran unopposed for the Republican nomination in 2004, setting up a re-match.

In 1995, he was elected to the Macon City Council.
