Biography:

Diane Farrell was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., and resides in Westport, Conn. Farrell earned a bachelor's degree from Wheaton College in 1977. She majored in American government and has a minor degree in elementary education.

Farrell was elected as Westport's first selectman in 1997 and is serving her second term. Prior to her political career, she worked as a preschool teacher and as a media planner for Benton & Bowles Inc.

Farrell is married to Winslow Farrell Jr. and the couple has two daughters, Hilary and Margaret.
