Bill Federer grew up in a family of 11 children in south St. Louis. After graduating from Saint Louis University with a degree in accounting and business administration, he worked in his family's real estate business and in the oil and gas industry.

Federer became known for his writings and speeches for primarily religious conservative audiences. He is the author of "America's God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations."

His wife, Susan, is a licensed insurence broker. They have four children.

Past Campaigns:

Bill Federer lost his 1998 challenge of Gephardt, who won, 56 percent to 42 percent. In the 2000 rematch, Gephardt won, 58 percent to 40 percent. Federer won the 2004 GOP primary with 75 percent of the vote.
