Biography:

Sylvester Fernandez is a native of India who came to the United States with $165 in his pocket and ultimately became an investment banker.

Fernandez graduated from the New School University of New York in 1987 with a masters degree in operations, logistics and transportation management.

He worked for Pan American Airways in its revenue management division for two years until 1987.

From 1987 to 2001 Fernandez worked as an Engineer in various departments of Bell Systems, which is now known as Lucent Technologies.

After leaving Lucent Technologies, Fernandez worked at a startup known as Pivotech Systems Inc. as its vice president of strategic planning until the business closed down.

Fernandez then co-founded Asian Securities Corporation located in New York, offering advice in security matters geared to the financial markets in Asia and the Middle East.

He served as a Commissioner on the Prosperity New Jersey Commission, appointed by Gov. Christie Todd Whitman, from 1995 to 2000.

Fernandez is currently the Vice-Chair of the New Jersey State Republican Committee, and he serves as a director on the Middlesex County College Foundation.
