Biography:

Harold Ford Jr., was born in Memphis, where he still resides. He has spent much of his life in Washington, however, where his father, Harold Ford Sr., served as Tennessee's 9th District congressman for 22 years.

He attended St. Albans School in Washington and received a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and a law degree from the University of Michigan in 1996. Ford was first elected to Congress in 1996.

He is single.


Past Campaigns:

Harold Ford was re-elected in 1998, defeating Republican Claude Burdikoff with 79 percent of the vote. He had no opposition in 2000 or 2002.
