Biography:

Melina "Mel" Fox's family has farmed in Indiana for five generations. Fox says she has dedicated her life to raising her daughter, Vanessa Lynn, and community volunteer service.

Fox received a degree in sociology and political science from Purdue University, and a masters in secondary education from Indiana University.

From 1992 to 2000, she served by presidential appointment on the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency State Committee, which oversaw $900 million in annual fedreal farm programs, 81 offices and 500 employees. She also served by gubernatorial appointment on the State Intelent Commission.

She has completed more than 100 hours of alcohol and drug studies certification and has counseled juvenile criminal offenders.

She resides in Greensburg and is married to Robert White.

Past Campaigns:

Melina Fox did not face a Democratic opponent in the 2004 primary. She won her party's nomination in 2002, but Republican Rep. Mike Pence won the general election easily, capturing 64 percent of the vote to 34 percent for Fox and 2 percent for Libertarian Doris Robertson.
