Biography:

Dave Franker was born in Sioux City, Iowa.

He got his bachelor's degree in religion from Valparaiso University. He went on to receive two master's degrees, one in German literature from the University of Iowa and one in divinity from Christ Seminary in St. Louis, which is now called Lutheran School of Theology and is in Chicago.

For 16 years, Franker was a chaplain to war veterans. He is currently a teacher at Kirkwood Community College. In 2001, he was elected as a board member of the Iowa City Community School District.

Franker is a divorced father of three grown children.
