Biography:

Tom Gallagher was born in Detroit, Mich., on December 10, 1944. He received a bachelor's degree from Holy Cross College and a law degree from Harvard University.

After graduating law school, he joined the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He later served as chief executive of The Griffin Group, the management firm responsible for Merv Griffin's hotel, entertainment, broadcast and gaming businesses.

Gallagher later served as chief executive of Hilton Hotels, then became chief executive of Park Place Entertainment, now known as Caesars Entertainment.

Gallagher and his wife, Mary Kay, have four grown children.
