Biography:
Mike Garza was born in 1932 in Clairville, Texas, to a family of migrant workers. The self-educated Garza enlisted in the Army in 1948 and served in Korea and Germany.
After leaving the military in 1952, Garza moved to San Francisco and held numerous jobs: worker in a grain business, meat packer and truck driver. He opened an auto parts business in San Francisco in 1964 and has operated the business since.
Garza's wife, Victoria, died in 2003. He has four children.
