Biography:
David Gill was born in Chicago, Ill., and graduated from Niles North High School in Skokie.
He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a medical degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, completing his residency in Mason City, Iowa.
In 1991, he was board certified in family medicine. He had a private practice for four years in Delavan, Ill., spent a year with Christie Clinic in Champaign, and four years with Proctor First Care in East Peoria and Morton, Ill.
In 1999, while with Proctor, Gill also began working for Prairie Emergency Group as an emergency room physician, primarily at Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton, Ill. He was named the medical director of the hospital's emergency room in 2001.
Gill was appointed to the board of directors of the city-operated hospital in 2002, and was elected board president in 2003.
Gill and his wife, Polly, have three children.
